    I realize that no two people are the same and as such tailor my therapy to meet the specific needs of my clients.     Couples Counseling

    While we now know that the old myth that “half of all marriages end in divorce” is simply false (the US divorce rate has been falling for decades and current studies estimate it’s closer to only ⅓), it doesn’t mean marriage is getting any easier with time. After all, if we expand this figure to include unhappy de facto relationships and add in the ill-contented twosomes who will never divorce, we can see there are large numbers of seriously annoyed, frustrated, people who are desperate for a change.

    CBT Therapy

    As difficult as these challenges are, and as distant as recovery may seem, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) has proven effective for issues like these and a multitude of others. As an article published in the journal Cognitive Therapy and Research says: “The evidence-base of CBT is very strong.” (1)

    CBT has proven results for insomnia, chronic pain, anger issues, anxiety disorders, bulimia, psychosomatic disorders, and general stress.

    CBT is a powerful therapeutic approach that looks at your current thoughts and the behaviors they trigger. It hones in on your automated assumptions and how these manifest when you experience frustration or stress.

    Hypnotherapy

    Hypnotherapy is a form of therapy used to access the subconscious mind. Hypnosis uses guided relaxation and focused attention to achieve a heightened state of awareness known as a “trance.” It is in this trance state that the subconscious mind is more open to suggestions for self-improvement and behavior modification. When the subconscious mind and conscious mind are in harmony, and the mind and body are connected, people have greater control over their behaviors and emotions.

    Group Therapy

    For some people the idea of participating in group therapy can be  intimidating. After all, the expectation is that we open up about ourselves with a bunch of strangers and risk judgment or worst of all embarrassment! Most often though, people are surprised at how much they gain from the experience of group therapy.

    Many couples enter into counseling in crisis, finding themselves frustrated with the tedious but necessary assessment process. Couples at their wit’s end are eager to “jump in” and get started with addressing the problems plaguing their relationship.
